Annual Report 2024–25 is published

The 2024–25 annual report is now available for download, together with the audited financial statements signed by our auditors. The headline figures: total income ₹1,64,20,000, total expenditure ₹1,52,80,000, of which ₹1,34,90,000 (88.3%) was direct programme expenditure. Administrative costs were ₹11,40,000 (7.5%) and fundraising ₹6,50,000 (4.2%). We hold administrative and fundraising together under 12%, which is a self-imposed limit rather than a regulatory one. We reached 6,240 children directly across 27 schools in eleven districts, distributed 21,400 books, opened five libraries, commissioned one digital lab, awarded 61 merit scholarships and ran fourteen health camps. Two things in the report are worth pointing at specifically. The first is the school-level reading assessment table, which includes three schools where the Class 5 figure fell year on year. We have written up what we think happened at each, and at one of them we do not know. The second is the note on restricted fund balances: ₹18,60,000 of the closing balance is restricted and cannot be spent on anything other than its designated purpose, which is why our bank balance looks healthier than our working position is.
