The pre-monsoon storms in the second week of May took the asbestos roofing off two classrooms at MPPS Ponnari and brought down forty metres of compound wall at MPPS Gollapadu. Two more schools in Khammam have roofing that our engineer has assessed as unsafe for another season.
None of this is dramatic and none of it will make the news. But a classroom without a roof in June is a classroom that is closed until October, and the children in it do not get those four months back.
The full repair estimate across the four schools is ₹6,50,000. Work has to be complete before the second week of June. This is the only kind of appeal we run at short notice, and we run it against the Emergency Fund so that no restricted programme money is diverted.

All four schools complete — and ₹39,000 over target
Work finished at MPPS Ponnari on the 4th, two days before the first heavy rain. The surplus has been held in the Emergency Fund rather than moved, as the appeal terms said it would be.
Gollapadu wall rebuilt
Forty-two metres, finished in nine days by a contractor from Konijerla who took the job at cost. The playground is usable again and the youngest children can be let out to play.
