This policy explains what this website stores in your browser, why, and how you can control it. Please read it with our Privacy Policy.

In short: we do not use advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking cookies. What we store is what the website needs in order to work, or what you have asked it to remember.

A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. Websites can also keep information in your browser's local storage, which stays until it is cleared, and session storage, which is deleted when you close the tab. This policy covers all three, and calls them "cookies" for short.

Strictly necessary — the website cannot work properly without these, so they do not need your consent:

• Your signed-in session (local storage). When you sign in to the donor, volunteer or staff portal, your session tokens are kept so that you stay signed in. They are removed when you sign out.
• aksf_role (cookie, 30 days). Records only the type of account you are signed in with, such as donor or volunteer, so that the website can take you to the right portal. It holds no password or token, and our servers check your permissions on every request.
• Donation in progress (session storage). Keeps the details of a donation you have just made so that the confirmation page can show your receipt. It is deleted when you close the tab.

Preferences — stored only when you choose them:

• aksf-theme (local storage). Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme.
• Remembered email (local storage). If you ask the sign-in form to remember you, your email address is kept to fill in the form next time. Turn the option off to remove it.

Some features load services from other companies. They set their own cookies, under their own policies, only when you use the feature:

• Payment gateway. When you donate, our payment gateway's checkout loads to process the payment securely and to prevent fraud.
• Video players. YouTube and Vimeo players on our pages load only after you press play.
• Maps. The map on our contact page is provided by a mapping service, which loads its own resources when you view that page.

We do not allow these services to use your information to advertise to you on our behalf.

We do not use analytics cookies, advertising or retargeting cookies, social media tracking pixels, or any cookie that follows you across other websites. If we ever introduce analytics, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before setting any cookie that is not strictly necessary.

You can view, block or delete cookies and browser storage in your browser's settings, usually under Privacy or Site data. If you clear them, you will be signed out and your theme preference will reset. If you block strictly necessary storage, you will not be able to sign in to the portals.
